Hiking games and other ways to enjoy your trail time together

What to expect

With modern technology it is easy to forget these traditional learning games used by our ancestors to quell the age-old question of “Are we their yet?”  Invaluable for keeping hikes fun, they are also great on long car rides, or in unexpected traffic and waiting rooms.

Many of the modules in this section are based on creating an internal drive for young adventurers to enjoy their time wandering on hikes, to fishing spots, or around camp grounds.  The Hiking Games section is certainly more interactive.  It is more aimed at those times when fish are not biting, camping trips need a little spicing up, or hikes seem to be a little harder than normal for young or older adventurers.

These are a host of games that have been used by indigenous peoples, pioneers, mountain men, scouts, and frustrated parents to make sure that you hear the words “Can we play again?” instead of “Will you carry me?”

Who is this for

Each version of this module is aimed at the interests and abilities of different age groups.  We separate them by grade level to make it easier for scout leaders, teachers, and other outdoor educators.  There is certainly some overlap and at our last class for 90809890809890, we had 5-year-olds and 14-year-olds completely engaged together after each day of classes.  It was amazing to see all of these adventurers out of their campers and tents, playing, laughing, and most importantly not texting or on their phones.  Please contact us if you would like to know if a certain portion of this module is right for your adventurer.  Check out the class scheduled dates for our estimated grade range for each class.
